Offset Paper is a high-quality, uncoated paper made primarily from bleached chemical wood pulp (hence the term "Wood-free," meaning no mechanical groundwood pulp). Unlike Art Paper, it has no clay coating on the surface. Its surface is sized with starch to improve strength and prevent loose fibers, but it retains a natural, matte texture. It is the most widely used paper for reading materials and office applications.

Matte/Rough Surface:

It has a non-reflective finish that diffuses light, making it the best choice for text-heavy documents as it does not cause glare or eye strain.

High Absorbency:

The uncoated surface absorbs ink readily. While this reduces image sharpness compared to Art Paper, it allows for faster drying and a natural look.

Excellent Writability:

The texture provides "tooth" (friction) for pens and pencils, making it the only choice for notebooks, forms, and diaries.

Durability:

 Because it contains no mechanical pulp (which contains lignin), Offset Paper does not yellow or become brittle as quickly as newsprint, offering good archival properties.
